Doors and windows are the parts of your home you touch and look through every day, and the details of how they are specified, ordered and installed determine how well your home performs for the next twenty years — weather sealing, security, energy efficiency, natural light and street appeal all trace back to good door and window work. We work with all major Australian manufacturers — Stegbar, A&L, Trend, Wideline, Corinthian, Hume — plus custom joinery from local timber window makers when the project calls for something unique. Timber, aluminium and composite frames all have their place: timber for character homes and coastal cottages where warmth matters, aluminium for large glazing runs and modern architectural work, composite when you want the look of timber with lower maintenance in exposed positions.

Window selection on the Central Coast has to account for salt air, wind loads and glare. We spec marine-grade powder coating on aluminium frames within 1km of the coast, stainless-steel hardware and hinges, and toughened or laminated glazing where BCA compliance or wind ratings require it. Low-E and double-glazed options are increasingly common as owners retrofit for comfort and energy efficiency — we can walk you through the payback honestly rather than upselling glass you do not need.

External doors are the front and back door of your home and the biggest single security element. We install solid-core entry doors, timber pivot doors, sliding stackers, bi-fold servery doors and traditional French doors, all with appropriate weather seals, threshold details and hardware. Hinges and locksets are specified for the door weight and the exposure — you do not hang a 45kg pivot on residential hinges, and you do not put a standard brass lock on a west-facing coastal front door and expect it to last.

Internal doors are usually where owners want to lift a whole home cheaply. Swapping tired 1970s hollow-core flush doors for solid-core panel doors, adding architrave upgrades and quality lever sets transforms every room and hallway in a house at a fraction of the cost of a renovation. We plane, hang, trim and finish every door on site so nothing sticks, binds or rattles.

Sliding and bi-fold doors need careful setup to work smoothly for decades. Track drainage, corner-post square, threshold flashing back into the flooring, and roller adjustment all matter. We install with the flashings and building wrap tied properly into the wall system — the difference between an installer who fits doors and a carpenter who understands the whole building envelope.

Retrofitting new windows into existing walls is a specialised job. We remove existing frames without damaging the surrounding cladding or plasterboard, install correctly sized new frames with the right jamb depth, flash back into brick veneer or cladding, and finish reveals, architraves and paintwork so nothing looks patched. Where we are replacing timber sash windows in older Gosford or Woy Woy homes we can preserve the original character while dramatically improving weather sealing and security.

Every installation is finished with proper flashings, backing rods and paintable silicone or expanding foam sealing, so no water tracks in behind the frame. Locksets, hinges and door closers are adjusted to specification and left working perfectly on handover.

Common questions

How much does a window replacement cost?

A standard 1200x900 double-hung aluminium window supplied and installed runs $900-1,600 including flashings and finishing. Sliding stackers, bi-folds and large fixed panels are quoted individually. Timber and double-glazed options add 30-70%. We give itemised fixed pricing after a site measure.

Timber, aluminium or composite frames — which is best on the coast?

Aluminium with marine-grade powder coating is the most low-maintenance choice within 1km of the surf. Timber suits character homes but needs regular coating maintenance. Composite (uPVC or timber-clad aluminium) is the premium option — timber warmth inside, weather-proof aluminium outside — and delivers the best energy performance.

Do I need council approval to replace windows or doors?

Replacing existing openings like-for-like is exempt development. Enlarging openings, adding new openings, or heritage-listed properties may need a CDC or DA. We check upfront.

Can you install owner-supplied doors and windows?

Yes — labour-only installation is fine if you have already ordered elsewhere. We ask to see the specs before committing to install so we can flag any compatibility or flashing issues with your wall system.

How long does an install take?

A single window or door swap is usually done in a day. Multiple windows across a home run 3-7 days depending on wall type and access. Full-home window replacements typically run 1-2 weeks.
