1. About us
This website is operated by Shore Carpentry & Building Pty Ltd (Shore Carpentry), a licensed carpentry and building business based on the Central Coast, NSW. NSW Contractor Licence Lic. 395501C.
In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Shore Carpentry & Building. "You" refers to the person or entity using our website or engaging our services. By using this website or accepting a quote from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Website use
The content on this website is provided for general information only. While we take care to keep information current and accurate, we do not warrant that it is complete, up to date, or free from error. Nothing on this website constitutes professional, structural or legal advice.
You agree not to use the website in any way that is unlawful, that could damage or impair it, or that interferes with any other party's use of the website.
3. Quotes and estimates
Quotes are prepared based on the scope of works, site conditions and information available at the time of inspection. Unless stated otherwise, quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
Verbal estimates and indicative pricing shown on our website or marketing materials are guides only and are not binding until a written quote has been issued and accepted.
4. Variations to quoted work
Any change to the agreed scope of work — including additional works, upgraded materials, or works arising from concealed or unforeseen site conditions — will be treated as a variation.
Variations will be documented in writing (including by email or SMS) and priced separately. Work on a variation will only commence once you have approved the variation and, where required, any deposit for it.
5. Payments and invoicing
A deposit may be required to confirm your booking and to cover the cost of initial materials. For larger works, a progress payment schedule will be set out in your written contract in accordance with the NSW Home Building Act 1989.
Invoices are payable within 7 days of issue unless otherwise agreed in writing. Overdue amounts may accrue interest at the Reserve Bank of Australia cash rate plus 4% per annum, and we reserve the right to pause works and to recover reasonable collection costs on overdue accounts.
6. Scheduling and project delays
We will use reasonable efforts to start and complete works within the timeframes discussed with you. Start and completion dates are estimates only and may be affected by weather, material supply, third-party trades, council approvals, or other matters outside our reasonable control.
We will keep you informed of any material changes to the schedule and will not be liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
7. Customer responsibilities
By engaging us, you agree to:
- provide safe, reasonable access to the site during agreed working hours;
- ensure the site has access to power, water and amenities where reasonably required;
- disclose known site conditions, including services, easements, asbestos or other hazardous materials;
- obtain any owners corporation, landlord or neighbour approvals required for the works; and
- make timely decisions on selections, colours and finishes so the works are not delayed.
8. Materials and product availability
Timber, hardware and finished products are subject to supplier availability and natural variation in colour, grain and texture. Where a specified product is unavailable or discontinued, we will discuss a suitable equivalent with you before proceeding.
Risk in materials passes to you upon delivery to site. Title in materials passes to you upon payment in full for those materials.
9. Warranties
Our workmanship is warranted in accordance with the statutory warranties implied by the NSW Home Building Act 1989. Where applicable, Home Building Compensation Fund (HBCF) cover will be provided before receiving a deposit above the prescribed threshold.
Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied products (for example decking boards, fixings, doors and windows) and are subject to the manufacturer's terms, installation and care requirements. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with the works or these Terms is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the affected services or paying the cost of having them re-supplied.
We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of rent, or loss of opportunity. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW).
11. Intellectual property

13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and courts of appeal from them for determining any dispute concerning these Terms or our services.
